Like other computers in the Apple Xserve lineup, the Xserve 667 MHz FBDIMM Memory server is no longer in production, but replacement memory can be installed to prolong the life of the server. The design was originally released with a small amount of memory, but is upgradable to 32 GB of total system RAM. The computer has 8 internal memory slots and each memory slot can hold up to 4 GB of DDR2 PC2-5300, which operates at a speed of 667 MHz. Memory is sold by the individual chip or in kits.
