IBM's Aptiva Series was first released in 1994. The series was marketed as a business computer but was also sold as a good home computer option, especially when used for business applications like word processors and spreadsheets. Aptiva computers could be purchased as a total package featuring the tower, a monitor, speakers, a keyboard and a mouse. PC DOS, Windows95 and OS/2 were the available options for pre-installed operating systems. The entire series includes smaller groupings of Aptiva computers of both number series units and letter series units. Good RAM options for Aptiva units include 128MB PC100 memory and 64MB PC100 memory.
