What Does DDR Stand For?
As you start browsing the computer memory catalog at Memory
America, you’ll notice the term “DDR” listed under many of our products. What
does DDR stand for, and how does it affect the performance of your memory?

DDR stands for “Double Data Rate,” and it is a class of
computer memory. DDR came out as an improvement over the standard synchronous
dynamic random-access memory, most often known as SDRAM. In some cases, DDR is
actually written as DDR-SDRAM. What makes DDR more advanced than simple SDRAM
is its speed. DDR sends and receives signals twice per clock cycle. This means
that it can move data twice as fast as its old counterpart SDRAM. It also uses
less power, making it a great memory option for smaller devices, like netbooks.
There are different types of DDR memory modules. You might
see DDR memory listed as DDR1, DDR2, DDR3, and DDR4. At Memory America, we
offer both DDR3 and DDR4 computer memory.
